POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the East-west Province Leadership Team and leading a team, the Director of Development (DOD) will work closely with the Director of Communications and other Province staff to implement a comprehensive fundraising and mission advancement program. The DOD is expected to increase awareness of and participation in the mission and work of SNDdeN East-West Province through the oversight and development of an inclusive and unified culture of philanthropy and the ability to serve more people through donor support.
The DOD’s overarching goal is to increase philanthropic support for the Province to continue the mission, work, spirituality, and charism of the Sisters. Also, to maintain a personal portfolio of donors while assisting leadership and others with their portfolios.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Review all aspects of the current development department and the organization’s philanthropic vision and processes including meeting with Sisters, current donors, and ministries. This includes overall operations, policies, technology, and tools for development
- Work with the Province Leadership Team to develop and refine the development vision and goals
- Evaluate and as necessary revise the SNDdeN EW development plan that guides the work of the development office to ensure the plan reflects the development vision and goals and appropriately addresses annual fundraising, major gifts, planned giving, grant writing, events, and stewardship
- Lead and manage a team of fundraising professionals across multiple locations providing training, guidance, and support as needed
- Collaborate with the Communications team to develop and implement effective donor communications, marketing materials, and an annual development report
- Build and strengthen relationships with major donors and planned gift donors and build a strategy for acquiring new donors
- Create ways to open doors for donor visits by engaging Leadership Team members and other Sisters to make introductions and join development team members in donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship
- Oversee or create direct mail appeals, and coordinate and implement special events
- Monitor and analyze fundraising data to evaluate performance and adjust strategies as needed
- Deliver a periodic development report for the East-West Province that includes all philanthropic revenue with the East-West Province finance office
- Other duties assigned consistent with the position
EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE/ SKILLS:
Evidence of good judgment, demonstrable personal integrity, powerful work ethic, and a result-oriented personality and disposition
A minimum of a bachelor's degree; master’s degree preferred
Experience with congregations of women religious and /or faith-based organizations preferred
Leadership and management of development – 5 years minimum
Demonstrated success in building a culture of philanthropy and increasing donor contributions and participation
Experience working with staff in multiple locations
Collaborative leadership style with degree of EQ and inclusivity
Experience in major and planned gifts and building donor relationships required
Excellent communication skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, fundraising software, and donor databases
Evidence of being strategic, innovative and able to unify people around a vision and mission
Ability to build lasting relationships with constituents, staff, donors, Associates, and Sisters of all ages and stages
