

Sister Gemma Julie Buggle, SNDdeN was born Dorothy Gemina Buggle in Dublin, Ireland. Her parents were Joseph and Dorothy (Barnewall) Buggle. She entered the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur in 1960, taking the name Genevieve Julie.
Sister Gemma took her first vows in 1963 and perpetual vows in 1968. She earned graduated from Emmanuel College with a degree in Music in 1967 and earned certifications in Special Education from St. Joseph College, in West Hartford, Connecticut, and a degree in Pastoral Ministry from Trinity College, in Hartford, and her CNA from St. Joseph Manor, in Trumbull, Connecticut. Her ministry included teaching in Branford, Milford, Hartford, Connecticut and in Chicopee, Massachusetts. She also participated in Home Health Care in Washington, D.C., Trumbull, Bridgeport, and Masonicare in Norwalk, Connecticut, before retiring in 2019 to the Julie House in Windsor, Connecticut.
Sister Gemma went home to her good God on February 20, 2025, at the age of 84.
