Sister Marjorie (William Katherine) Gallagher

Born and raised in Chester, Pa. and Parkside, Pa., I am the daughter of William and Katherine Fedina Gallagher (both deceased), and ninth of 11 children. Of my six sisters and four brothers, three sisters and two brothers are still living.

After attending Resurrection and St. Michael Schools in Chester, Pa. I finished at Our Lady of Charity School in Brookhaven. My high school years were spent at Notre Dame High School in Moylan, Pa.

I felt called to enter the convent since early childhood and it was solidified when I met the Sisters at Notre Dame, Moylan. I knew this was where I belonged. I entered the community in 1961.

My B.S. in education was completed at Trinity University, Washington, D.C. and I later received a Masters Degree in Religious Education from LaSalle University, Philadelphia, Pa.

My ministries have been in formal elementary and secondary education at schools in Baltimore, Our Lady of Victory; Ilchester, Trinity School; Brooklandville, Maryvale Prep; and Bel Air, The John Carroll H.S.—all in the state of Maryland. These more than 30 years were punctuated by 23 years in Youth Ministry, Director of Religious Education, Campus Ministry and a couple years as secretary to the President of what is now Stevenson University (then Villa Julie College) in Stevenson, Md.

While most of my ministry was in and around Maryland, my work in parishes took me to Kingwood, West Virginia, and Washington, DC as well as to parishes in Maryland.

For a year I served as one of the Coordinators at the St. Julie Billiart Residential Care Center in Ipswich, Mass.

I reside in Bel Air, Maryland.
