Sister Mary was born in Boston, Mass., to parents Cornelius and Mary (Linehan) Farren. She entered the Sisters of Notre Dame in 1970, and took her first vows in 1973.
She currently serves on the leadership team of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur's U.S. East-West Province.
