Sister Paul St. Katherine Murphy

Sister Paul was born Cornelia Ann Murphy in Chelsea, Massachusetts, to parents Cornelius and Nora Veronica (Duggan) Murphy. There were six children in her family, and of them one become a bishop, one a doctor and three became teachers. She met the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur when she attended Notre Dame Academy in Roxbury, Mass., graduating in 1961.

Sister Paul entered the congregation at Waltham, Mass. the summer after high school graduation. Her first teaching assignment was in Danvers, Massachusetts.

During the Juniorate at Wenham, she attended Emmanuel College. Then she was missioned to Salem, New Hampshire, where she spent many years before being transferred to Andover, Mass. At St. Augustine School she first taught middle grades and later uunior high for a total of 39 years!

Sister Paul was an wonderful math teacher who was dedicated to her students. She enjoyed walking and riding her bike all over Andover.
