Sister Ruth (Richard) Creedon

I was taught by the Sisters starting in the first grade and was in Notre Dame schools from 7th to 12th. I had a great devotion to prayer and the idea of joining the Sisters was with me even when I was young. I entered Notre Dame right after high school in 1959.

My daily routine begins with prayer, continues into ministry and ends with walks. I don’t like to go a day without praying at least one rosary. I feel a great devotion to our Blessed Mother.

I enjoy teaching. There’s a challenging side to each grade as well as its own blessings, though when students are older it can be easier because they’re more grown up! I especially enjoy my ministry at St. John the Baptist School. I taught here from 1974 to 1986 and returned in 2004. Currently I am teaching part time and also volunteer at Haven from Hunger, an organization that does much good for the poor of the area.

I celebrated my 60th Jubilee as a Sister in 2019, and I am grateful to God for my call to Notre Dame and for every mission I’ve had. I have been happy in every place and for the people who’ve touched my life.
