Girl Writing Poetry editedJohn O’Donohue reminds us that “Beauty is the illumination of your soul,” and poetry is one of beauty’s most patient teachers. A single line, read with care and attention, can become a doorway into presence–a reminder of the wisdom, longing, and stillness that live just beneath the surface of our days.

In this workshop, we will read a small selection of poems slowly, allowing them to ripen within us. We will attend to images, silences, and resonances–not to decode them, but to let them work on us. For those inspired to write, there will be time for gentle exploration, along with guidance and encouragement for participants new to poetry.

The time together is offered as a form of spiritual practice: an invitation to touch the deeper currents of your own experience, and, if you wish, give them shape through words. There is no right way to do this–only a willingness to be present. No prior experience with poetry or writing is necessary.

Mary Pennington and Marianne Sheridan will be your workshop guides.
