125 Years of Faith, Friendship and Foundation: A Jubilant Celebration at Moreland Notre Dame
December 26, 2025

Joy and nostalgia filled the air as the Moreland Notre Dame School community in Watsonville, California, celebrated 125 years of faith-filled education and Notre Dame spirit. The September gala and fundraising auction brought together Sisters, alumni, parents and staff for a weekend overflowing with gratitude, laughter and shared memories.
The celebration began with a beautiful anniversary Mass led by Bishop Danny Garcia, followed by a warm reception in the school library, where guests admired memorabilia spanning generations and the newly refreshed library patio. Later that evening, the 125th anniversary dinner set a festive tone, with tables adorned in blue and gold, portraits of St. Julie Billiart and a palpable sense of legacy linking past to present.
Among the honored guests were several Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur who had once taught at the school, including Sister Liane Delsuc, SNDdeN, and Sister Louise O’Reilly, SNDdeN. Their former students, now celebrating their 50th reunion, greeted them with hugs and laughter.
Founded by the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur in 1899 and dedicated in 1900, Moreland Notre Dame has remained steadfast in its mission: to educate for life, faith and service. One hundred twenty-five years later, that same spirit continues to inspire.
