A Prayer for Minnesota and “The Other”

I join with so many others who are mourning and crying in despair at the violence in Minnesota. Through it all, I try not to lose sight of the fact that all of this turmoil began because of deep-seated hatred of “the other.”

Those whose skin does not look like we think it should, who speak with accents different from our own, who eat different food, enjoy different music, dance and customs, who value family, friends and community with a warmth and inclusiveness we may have never experienced.
