Spring is alive with learning, creativity and community at the Cuvilly Arts & Earth Center, a ministry of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur in Ipswich, Massachusetts.

In celebration of Earth Month, students and teachers are launching the Team Earth Cuvilly Challenge. Families will receive a Bingo Board filled with environmentally conscious activities to complete together at home.cuvilly

Across campus, students are fully immersed in hands‑on outdoor learning. Preschoolers are joyfully tracking signs of new life, exploring food webs, caring for animals and tending the land. Taproots students are diving deep into systems thinking by creating an apple tree guild, learning how plants cooperate to build resilient ecosystems, while writing, illustrating and installing a StoryWalk to share their work. Musician Joe Milia is enriching the Nature Nuggets, Trail Blazers, and Taproots programs with engaging, game‑based lessons in rhythm, singing and melody.

The Harvest for Good program is sprouting early seedlings that will later provide fresh produce to local food pantries, and volunteers are welcome to help tend the gardens using sustainable, permaculture‑based practices. From April 27 to May 1, Cuvilly will also collect gently used winter gear to support future students and reduce costs for families.

Many of these accomplishments will be showcased at Cuvilly’s Open House on May 16, 2026 (rain date May 17). Visitors will see the students’ apple tree guild book, companion plant designs, and sheet‑mulching projects, and students who have completed the Team Earth Cuvilly Challenge will officially join Team Earth. The Eco‑Artisans community will display their upcycled creations, and campus tours of the 7‑acre property will highlight the gardens—including newly built elevated beds and the Harvest for Good plots—along with displays celebrating the work of our students.

The Cuvilly book club is also going strong. April’s book club pick is The Book of Hope: A Survival Guide for Trying Times by Jane Goodall. Sign up for their book club here.
