Notre Dame High School Belmont “Adopts” Sisters
March 30, 2026
In a brand-new “Adopt a Sister” program in California, 11 sophomore Notre Dame High School Belmont students were matched with Sisters at the Belmont Province Center to explore and build new friendships.
Sabrina Harper, U.S. East-West vocations promoter, says the women will meet regularly during the school year to learn about each other’s lives.
“It is a way for students to see that the Sisters are leaders in their communities and within the Church,” she shares, “and to promote the charism of St.Julie and the legacy of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur.”
Students were gifted with a custom-designed journal to record their reflections on these topics. With smiles on their faces, students and
Sisters enjoyed the meet-and-greet event in October, where a strong foundation toward friendship began. The inaugural program drew to a close in March.
“Students who don’t have grandparents or extended family living nearby said this was a great opportunity to connect with someone with life experience and wisdom to share,” said Amy Jobin, director of Mission and Ministry at NDB and an Associate of Notre Dame de Namur. “…students wanted to get to know more about Notre Dame, its mission and what the life of a Sister is like.”
May our good God bless these new relationships.
