Sisters Academy of Baltimore: Two Decades of Empowering Girls
December 26, 2025
Founded in 2004, the Sisters Academy of Baltimore (SAB) was born from a call by parents and community leaders
seeking quality education and hope for middle school girls in southwest Baltimore.
Created through the shared vision of four religious congregations—the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, School Sisters of Notre Dame, Sisters of Mercy, and Sisters of Bon Secours—SAB has become a beacon of empowerment and transformation.
Now celebrating its 20th anniversary, the Academy provides a tuition-free, faith-based education for grades 5–8, with every student receiving a 100% scholarship. Small classes and an 8:1 student-to-teacher ratio ensure each girl’s growth and success—100% of eligible graduates have earned their high school diplomas.
Rooted in faith, leadership and justice, SAB nurtures confident, compassionate young women who will spark positive change in their communities and beyond. A recent grant from the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur supports just wages for the dedicated staff who make this mission possible.

Class of 2028 students participated in a quilt-making activity with noted fiber artist and master quilter Joan Gaither, Ph.D.
