St. Robert Bellarmine Church in Windsor Locks, Connecticut, was the scene  of  Saturday, September 12, to honor four Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur.

Sisters Josita Colbert, Maureen O’Brien, Claire Pierz and Maureen Toomey, SNDdeN were surrounded by the Notre Dame community, friends and family for the special occasion marking their 70th year of religious life.

Front, from left, Jubilarian Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur Maureen O’Brien, Josita Colbert, Maureen Toomey, and Claire Pierz, SNDdeN are accompanied by, back row from left, Sisters Roberta Rzeznik, Maria Delaney, Ginny Scally and Patricia O’Brien, SNDdeN.

In the beautiful chapel, uplifting music and selected readings set the stage for a thoughtful, humorous homily from Father René Butler.

He spoke of “soul mate saints” and the topic of peace, weaving in quotes from our own patron saint, Julie Billiart:

“Peace is the greatest pledge of God’s love for you. Preserve this precious treasure carefully.”

Sisters also lovingly remembered Sister Sheila Palmer, SNDdeN, another 70-year Jubilarian who returned to God earlier this year.

Following the final blessing, guests proceeded to the reception hall to enjoy a wonderful buffet and the attention of volunteer wait staff – basketball players from East Catholic High School in Manchester, Connecticut.

We are grateful to all those who made this a wonderful, memorable and joyful day for our Jubilarians and all who attended.
