Patricia “Rose St. Joseph” Gallague (1927-2021)

Sister Patricia (Rose St. Joseph) Gallague, SNDdeN went home to her good God in 2021.

She was born in Dorchester, Massachusetts, the daughter of Edmund and Rosina (McLaughlin) Gallahue, and graduated from St. Gregory High School in Dorchester. She entered the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur in 1946 as Sister Rose St. Joseph.

Sister Patricia  graduated from Emmanuel College in Boston with a concentration in Math and Education. She earned a master’s degree in teaching with a specialization in math from Brown University in Providence. Sister Patricia completed many additional courses of study to enhance her education skills.

Sister Patricia began her teaching career at Notre Dame schools in East Boston and Somerville. She taught math at St. Teresa High School in Providence, East Catholic High School in Manchester, Conn., and Central Catholic High School in Norwalk, Conn.

In 1979, she redirected her ministry to leadership roles involving the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur. She served the Connecticut Province in several capacities and, as Director of Strategic Planning, assisted the Sisters of Mercy in West Hartford. She was also Assistant Director of the Leadership Conference of Women Religious in Washington, D.C., from 1985 through 1991.
