Peggy “Rose Christopher” Evans

Sister Peggy Evans, SNDdeN was born in East Hartford, one of three children born to Christopher and Roselle (Maguire) Evans. She entered the SDNdeNs in 1960, took her first vows in 1963 and final vows in 1968. Her religious name was Sister Rose Christopher.

Sister Peggy received a bachelor’s degree in Spanish from Emmanuel College in Boston and master’s degrees in Spanish and school counseling from Southern Connecticut State University and Central Connecticut State University.

She taught first- and second-graders at St. Aedan in New Haven before moving to East Catholic High School in Manchester, Connecticut. During her 50-plus years there, she has served as a religion teacher, Spanish teacher, vice principal, and guidance counselor; she currently assists with alumni relations.
