Christ the Savior: Historical Models for an Ecumenical Future cites Sister Dorothy as an example of God’s agape love for us.

Theologians in Salt Lake City have published a new book exploring soteriology, the theology of salvation. In Christ the Savior: Historical Models for an Ecumenical Future, by Robert A. Krieg and Brandon Peterson, the authors put forward the example of Sister Dorothy Stang, SNDdeN in the chapter titled, God’s Self-Gift of Agape.

The book says Sister Dorothy “died as she lived, giving herself for the well-being of others. In this she radiated in her very person the Christ as the Self-Gift of Agape for God’s people.”

According to the publisher, Fortress Press, “This much-needed volume introduces its readers to the church’s five classic models of the Savior and to their interpretations by contemporary Catholic and Protestant theologians. In this endeavor, the book draws on Scripture, literature, art, phenomenology, and the moving stories of faith-filled resistance, conversion, and bravery seen from Christians like Mamie Till-Bradley, Dorothy Mae Stang, and Rosa Parks.”

Christ the Savior is available through Fortress Press, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Bookshop.org and Christian Book.
