Statement for June Pride Month
June 11, 2026
During Pride Month, we reaffirm the Catholic belief that every person is created in the image and likeness of God and deserves dignity, respect and love. As a Catholic community of religious sisters, we are called to accompany one another with humility, mercy and a commitment to the Gospel, recognizing that our good God’s love extends to every person.
Inspired by the legacy of Pope Francis, who called the Church to be a place of encounter, mercy and welcome, we strive to listen deeply and walk alongside those who have too often experienced exclusion or judgment. His witness reminded the Church that authentic pastoral care begins with compassion and accompaniment.
Catholic Social Teaching reminds us that the dignity of the human person is the foundation of a just and faithful society. Grounded in these teachings and the U.S. Catholic Bishops’ call to treat every person with “respect, compassion and sensitivity,” we reject bullying, harassment, violence and unjust discrimination in all forms. We seek to foster communities where every person knows they are valued, welcomed and cherished.
We pray that this month may be an opportunity for greater understanding, deeper listening and renewed commitment to treating one another with Christ-like love and building communities rooted in justice, compassion and peace
