Statement Supporting Cardinals’ Stance on Foreign Policy

(January 26, 2026) — The Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, U.S. East-West Province, stand in agreement with the recent joint statement by the archbishops Cardinal Blase J. Cupich (Chicago), Cardinal Robert McElroy (Washington) and Cardinal Joseph W. Tobin, C.Ss.R. (Newark) in calling for a morally grounded U.S. foreign policy.

Our charism of proclaiming God’s goodness and advancing justice and peace compels us to affirm that policies affecting human life, dignity and the common good must be guided by solidarity, compassion and respect for human rights. We believe that true peace is built through dialogue, care for the vulnerable and the protection of human life. In these challenging times, we pray and advocate for a foreign policy that reflects Gospel values and upholds the dignity of every person throughout the world.
