The Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur’s $30,000 grant to River City Food Bank (RCFB) in Sacramento, California, is transforming lives and making known God’s goodness by addressing the growing issue of food insecurity in the region. Sacramento faces persistently high rates of food insecurity, with nearly 300,000 residents lacking reliable access to nutritious food.

Retired and Infirm Sisters

Your gift to the Retirement Fund ensures our Sisters can embrace their golden years with dignity and purpose. This vital support allows these dedicated women to continue making a meaningful difference—through their prayers, their presence, and their wisdom—while remaining active, engaged members of the communities they’ve served for decades. Your generosity helps honor their lifetime of service by providing the care they deserve while enabling their spiritual work to flourish.

After retirement from full-time ministry, Sisters remain active. Many volunteer with community organizations or tutor in schools, and all – regardless of their health status – are engaged in the ministry of prayer, including answering all prayer requests from our friends and benefactors.

For some Sisters, additional care becomes necessary with age, and the retirement fund ensures they have access to the specialized support they need, including assisted living, memory care, rehabilitation, and skilled nursing at facilities in California and Massachusetts. Having access to these skilled facilities allows these Sisters the opportunity to receive the additional care they need while remaining close to their Province Centers and their communities.

This care and sense of community reflect the lifelong mission the Sisters have upheld – to live lives of service, faith and love.
