St. Julie established schools to help prepare children from impoverished backgrounds for their roles in life. She saw education for everyone as a basic human right, and teaching as the “greatest work on earth.”

Working as administrators, teachers and professors, tutors and classroom aides, the Sisters of the SNDdeN U.S. East-West Province have educated at colleges, high schools, elementary schools and pre-schools in a dozen states—California, Oregon, Massachusetts, Hawaii among them.

The essential characteristics, values and activities of a SNDdeN learning community are known as the Hallmarks.

The Hallmarks of a Notre Dame Learning Community

The Hallmarks answer the question –

“What distinguishes a Notre Dame Learning Community?”
