Diana Enriquez FieldAssociate of Notre Dame Diana Enriquez-Field has a long history with Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur. After first meeting the Sisters as a college student at Notre Dame de Namur University in 2005, she has been deeply impacted by the charism of Saint Julie. Here are her thoughts about how the Sisters have been a positive influence in her life.

How has your relationship with the Sisters influenced your faith or your life?

I met the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur at Notre Dame de Namur University in 2005, and they have been part of my life ever since. They have accompanied me through homesickness in college, graduations, career discernment, marriage, and the birth of our children. I even gave my daughter the middle name Julie in honor of Saint Julie. Her vision transformed my life and led me to the Sisters in California and beyond. Whether in Nicaragua, England, the Midwest, or the East Coast, I have encountered the same charism wherever I have gone.

Can you share a story that brings together your Hispanic heritage, your faith, and your journey as an Associate of Notre Dame de Namur?

What comes to mind are our Día de los Muertos and Our Lady of Guadalupe celebrations at Notre Dame de Namur University. I experienced them first as a student and later as a staff member and Associate. Seeing our community come together to honor our loved ones through stories, music, prayers, and food was beautiful. The procession from the dining hall to the chapel created a sacred sense of faith, love, and belonging. I especially loved seeing our Sisters not just present but fully participating and sharing in these celebrations with our community.

How do you experience God’s presence in your daily life?

I experience God’s presence through my children, my husband, and the beauty of the outdoors. I believe God is in everything and everywhere. Each day, I try to slow down, be present to my conversations, my work, the laughter of my children, and the meals we share.

How do you hope to pass on your values to younger generations?

I try to live out my faith, be kind to others and take time to get to know people. I want them to feel seen, valued, and cared for.
