The Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, U.S. East-West Province, stand in solidarity with the statement by Bishop Brendan J. Cahill and the Committee on Migration of U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops affirming the God-given dignity of all persons in light of the recent U.S. Supreme Court decision regarding the future of temporary protected status for Haitian and Syrian refugees.

Our charism of proclaiming God’s goodness and advancing justice and peace compels us to advocate for foreign policies rooted in compassion and respect for human rights. We further heed the Gospel mandate to welcome the stranger, and strongly urge our nation’s leaders to develop an immigration system that provides a safe process for those seeking asylum.
