Sister Julie Cecilia Lyver (1929-2021)

Sister Julie Cecelia was born Mary E. Lyver in Somerville, Mass. to parents Francis W. and Margaret (O'Neill) Lyver. She entered the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur on February 2, 1948 in Waltham, Mass. Sister Julie earned her BA in Elementary Education from Emmanuel College, as well as an MA in Education from Salem State. Sister Julie taught in several schools in the greater Boston area including in Lawrence, East Boston, Dorchester and Salem. She was the Principal at O.L.C.A. Waltham, St. Mary, Shrewsbury and St. Anthony, Somerville.

Sister Julie Cecilia went peacefully home to her good God on October 4, 2021 at the Saint Julie Residential Care Center in Ipswich, Mass. She was 92 years old, and was a Sister of Notre Dame de Namur for 73 years.

Sister Julie Cecelia is survived by her twin brother, John of Burlington, Mass., her loving nieces and nephews, and their families. She was predeceased by her brothers, Francis and William Lyver. Sister Julie is also survived by her Sisters and Associates in the Notre Dame community, her many friends and former students, and the devoted staff of the St. Julie Billiart Residential Care Center.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10:30 am at Our Lady Queen Chapel in Ipswich, Mass, on Thursday, October 7, 2021.
